University Center for Holocaust, Genocide & Peace Studies to hold „Festival for Peace“ open house

RENO – The University of Nevada, Reno Center for Holocaust, Genocide & Peace Studies will hold an open house Thursday, Nov. 30 on campus to present the center’s community outreach educational program.
The center’s director, Viktoria Hertling, pioneered a program through the Austrian government’s worldwide Holocaust awareness program in which Austrian interns visit local schools and community groups and teach students and others how prejudice led to the atrocities of World War II. Refreshments will be served

Heinz Boesch, Martin Heim and Michael Feuerstein, who are serving as Austrian Gedenkdienst -„commemorative service“ interns in lieu of compulsory military service, and Hertling will present an overview of the interns‘ work and will present an online exhibit „Festival for Peace.“ |
