Hitler’s former home in Austria will be turned into a House of Responsibility, a museum depicting atrocities committed by the Nazi leader.

The home where monster Adolf Hitler grew up is to be turned into a Holocaust museum. Authorities in Austria have decided that the house where the Nazi leader spent his childhood in Branau will become a museum called the House of Responsibility. The house, which is close to Germany’s southeast border, has been empty for two years amid lots of concern about what would happen to it.

The plans will turn the house into a museum depicting the crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis, reports The Local. The idea was first proposed by Austrian historian Andreas Maislinger. The house has been owned by a retired local woman, but has been rented by the government since 1972, who vets tenants to ensure no Hitler-admirers can stay there. Hitler was born in Branau in 1889. The house was bought by the Nazis in 1938 to turn it into an art gallery and public library. It was also occupied by U.S. troops at the end of World War II.
